The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUV made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in January and is now available for purchase.
Initially launched with a single, long-range, rear-wheel-drive variant, Hyundai has since expanded the Ioniq 5’s lineup in India.
Hyundai has brought the manufacturing of the electric car in the country and locally built this unit to enable the automaker to charge a reasonable price for it. The electric SUV is now available for order bookings.

The interior of the electric SUV features a consistent environmental theme. Its features include a sliding centre console, an integrated dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver’s display, an augmented reality head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof.
Other significant features are High Beam Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Highway Driving Assist 2, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Exterior
The new parametric pixelated LED headlights, flush-fitting door handles, wide wheel arches, and 20-inch alloy wheels are some of the exterior design features.
Additionally, it has an Active Air Flap (AAF) that when closed, enhances aerodynamics and when opened, cools the vehicle’s internal components.
Interior
Hyundai Ioniq 5 has two 12.3-inch screens inside, one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system with navigation, ventilated front seats, ambient sounds of nature, and vehicle-to-load function (V2L), which is used via a power outlet on the side of the car.
It also has Level 2 ADAS, power seats, climate control, and eight Bose premium speakers.
Charging
The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes using the 350kW super fast charger.
The smaller battery pack can be recharged in 43.5 minutes using the more typical 50 kWh charger, but it takes 56.6 minutes for the larger 72.6 kWh battery pack.
Platform
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the company’s first vehicle to utilize the E-GMP BEV platform (Electric Global Modular Platform).
Engine
The Ioniq 5 has a 72 kW battery pack in India, which powers a 217 PS rear-wheel drive engine.
Additionally, the Ioniq 5 features quick charging capabilities. The Ioniq 5 offers vehicle-to-load functionality, which essentially enables you to use the battery charge from your car to power some appliances, as well as support for quick charging.
Safety Features
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with loads of safety features like Hyundai Smart Sense, which maximizes passenger security.
Additionally, it has six airbags, a simulated engine sound system, a power kid lock, electric parking brakes as well as multi-collision avoidance brakes.
